History
Reality Aside Theatre was incorporated as a non-profit organization in July 2007; we began producing shows under that name in February 2007. 

Mission
Our aims are twofold: 1) to produce theatre that both entertains and challenges general audiences, and 2) to use various artistic media for educational purposes, specifically for underprivileged children. 

1)  We seek works that challenge audiences to think about, question, and often directly participate in what they’re experiencing – including promising pieces by new playwrights.  These plays confuse, surprise, fascinate, and challenge a viewer to engage his brain more actively than many forms of entertainment demand.  Some works experiment with direct interaction and crossing the gap between audience and performers. 

2) We use various artistic media to address the dearth of creative arts curricula in education, specifically in that of underprivileged children.  We aim to teach children that learning isn’t a chore: it’s an exciting, personal adventure.
