The creative arts enrich the lives of those who enjoy them, and can also serve as an effective teaching tool.  But as funding for the arts has declined over the past decade, so has their accessibility to children and students.  In New York City’s underfunded schools, which serve mainly underprivileged families, the arts have vanished from the curricula - so that students who need creative instruction the most are the ones who can least afford it.

We combat that trend by doing what we love.   As a non-profit company concerned with the state of arts in education, Reality Aside has partnered with Walt Frasier’s improvisational theatre group to tour improvisational and educational productions to underfunded NYC schools: for free.  In addition, we offer a number of free tickets to our public children's shows at the Times Square Arts Center in Manhattan.  Currently we are in the process of adapting the live shows to other artistic media, including television and print.

If you are an educator or parent interested in booking a school event or obtaining free tickets, or if you want to learn more about opportunities for a child to become involved with our programs, please contact: whatsupjack@realityasidetheatre.com with "Education" as your subject.
